Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) - San Antonio, Texas

Southwest Research Institute, founded in 1947, is an independent, nonprofit, applied research and development organization dedicated to pursuing innovation while benefiting humanity. We pursue over 4,000 projects a year including our own internal research and development.

Our San Antonio, Texas campus has 1500 acres of state-of-the-art facilities and lab space to create and design in. The SwRI family consists of more than 2600 staff members within nine technical divisions. We pursue projects from deep sea to deep space, and everything in between! Join us on a journey of discovery. Our multidisciplinary teams tackle the toughest challenges - from self-driving vehicles to drug discovery to cybersecurity - and beyond.

For more than three decades, Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) has been a recognized leader in space science research as well as in the development of spacecraft instrumentation, avionics and electronics for government and industry. A traditional strength of the Space Science Department is the design and fabrication of instruments for the in-situ measurement of space plasmas, the dilute ionized gases that populate the space environments of the Earth and other solar system bodies, as well as interplanetary space.
