The internship was great experience in a field that I somewhat overlooked prior. The classes that covered Bioinformatics made the workflow seem very set in stone and not dynamic. This internship has shown me the complete opposite. The workflow for a particular project is unique based on the analysis and what exactly you are looking for. It has exceeded my expectations and it is a definite possibility for my future education or work.
What I wish was different
The only negative to the internship was that is was completely remote. I would have liked to been able to interact with my colleagues in-person to see what work they are doing.
Advice
Do not turn away an internship because of a bad first impression from classes you have taken.
