Assistant Principal/Athletic Director

This position is for the 2025-2026 school year.

Anticipated start date:  08/01/2025.

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the School Principal or designee, the Assistant Principal/Athletic Director (Athletic Director) directs and manages the overall program of extracurricular and intramural athletics for the District. The Athletic Director provides each student with the opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity and ensures compliance with all federal, state, Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA), and local requirements.  The Athletic Director also directs and manages assigned areas of instructional program and building operations.

Additional Information:

  • Holds or be eligible for a valid Administrator’s certificate in the State of Kansas.
  • Possesses valid driver’s license required.
  • Takes a leadership role in planning activities and implementing programs to ensure attainment of the school’s mission.
  • Participates in development of building improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members.
  • Recruits, selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates all athletic department personnel and make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.
  • Develops training options and/or improvement plans for employees to ensure exemplary operation in the area of athletics.
  • Articulates the District’s mission and goals in the area of athletics to the community and solicits its support in realizing the mission.
  • Demonstrates awareness of District and community needs, initiates activities to meet those needs, and uses appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

KPERS participation is mandatory for this position.
