Employment Specialist Intern

We are seeking a passionate and driven Employment Specialist Intern to join our team and play a vital role in making this vision a reality.

Position Overview:

As an Employment Specialist Intern, you will work alongside our experienced team to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their journey towards meaningful employment. This impactful role involves cultivating partnerships with local businesses, providing personalized job coaching, and championing inclusivity in the workplace.

Responsibilities:

Job Development: Collaborate with local businesses to identify and create employment opportunities for individuals with diverse abilities, promoting inclusivity and diversity in the workplace.

Job Coaching: Provide individualized job coaching to program participants, supporting them in skill development, workplace integration, and maintaining successful employment.

Community Outreach: Actively engage with local employers, community organizations, and government agencies to raise awareness about the benefits of hiring individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Individualized Support Plans: Develop and implement personalized support plans for program participants, addressing their unique needs and ensuring a smooth transition into the workforce.

Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with disabilities in the workplace, fostering a culture of understanding, acceptance, and equal opportunity.

Data Tracking and Evaluation: Maintain accurate records of participant progress, employment outcomes, and employer partnerships, contributing to ongoing program evaluation and improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in or recently completed a degree program in rehabilitation counseling, social work, human services, or a related field.
  • Passion for promoting employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with local businesses and community stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
