Communications and Marketing Internship

Job Type: Volunteer Intern (10-15 hours per week)
 
Compensation: $500 stipend upon completion (college credit – optional)
 
Location: 1023 Springdale Rd, Building 9E, Austin, TX 78721
 
*Currently hybrid due to COVID-19 restrictions but must be based in Austin, TX
 
Internship Description
Latinitas is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering all girls to innovate through media and technology. We publish LatinitasMagazine.org and deliver a weekly after-school “Club Latinitas” program, summer camps, workshops, seasonal Chica Conferences and certification programs in journalism and coding for girls ages 9 - 18.
 
We are seeking talented individuals to intern during our busy spring semester. Communications and Marketing Interns will have a unique opportunity to learn about non-profit public affairs through hands-on activities and exposure to a wide range of activities and projects.
 
Intern will work directly with all full-time staff for project needs and will use tools such as Google Drive, Gmail, Asana, and more to help with organization of tasks. This position will require weekly check-ins with the Engagement Coordinator to review progress of assigned projects and will also require a mid and end of semester evaluation.
Duties Include:
  • Marketing/Advertising: Help develop and implement marketing and advertising plans for small-scale events or projects
  • Public Relations: Update media contact list, write press releases and media pitches for upcoming events, and create marketing plans
  • Social Media: Assist in creating monthly social media calendar for Latinitas accounts. Create fun and relevant content for Latinitas.
  • Editorial: Create the Latinitas monthly e-newsletter
 
Intern Requirements
  • This position requires a minimum of 10 hours per week. Hours and days of work are flexible.
  • Intern is encouraged to gain experience and skills geared towards their interests. 
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be enthusiastic, organized, resourceful, and creative.
  • Help further the public image of the organization and help create wider exposure in the Austin area. 
This position is recommended for students with a major in Communications, Public Relations, Business, Marketing or Spanish; however, anyone interested is welcome to apply.
Bilingual volunteers are encouraged to apply. Social media and some graphic design experience is a plus. Training will be given as necessary. Stipend included upon completion.
