Benson Rare Books Student Associate (open to work-study and non-work-study)

LLILAS Benson Latin American Collection is comprised of circulating and a rare/archival library stacks. This position will be located in the rare/archival stacks and will involve the handling and care of rare materials.

Position Title: Benson Latin American Collection Rare Books Student Associate

Department: Benson Latin American Collection

Supervisor: Elizabeth Garza

Position is subject to renewal each semester.

Work Schedule: The working hours for this position are between 9am and 5pm, with a preference for Wednesdays.

Duties: The duties of this position primarily include scanning and pulling/re-shelving and handling rare material for researchers. Additional duties include various stacks projects and assisting the stacks manager as needed. 

Required Qualifications: UT Austin student enrolled in minimum of 6 credits for the spring 2024 semester.  Ability to climb stairs, as the rare books stacks are only accessible by narrow staircases. Ability to lift/move up to 15 lbs.  Both work-study and non-work-study students are welcome to apply.

Preferred Qualifications: Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills are preferred.

 

Working Conditions: Regular indoor working conditions.

Rate of Pay: $11.00
