Geodesy Graduate Research Assistant

Description

Graduate Research Assistant position in the Space and Geophysics Laboratory (SGL) of the Applied Research Laboratories:

 •    Develop algorithms and software in the areas of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI), advancing the state of the art in space geodesy.
 •    Participate in field experiments by collecting, processing and analyzing data from a novel radio interferometer consisting of a GNSS software-defined radio receiver and a 25-meter VLBA radio telescope.
 •    Help develop software for position and timing solutions from sequential GNSS satellite observations, leading to an advancement of our understanding of the Earth’s surface and interior.

Qualifications:

•U.S. Citizenship required.

•Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.

•Overall GPA of at least 3.0 is expected.

•Pursuing a graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, Geodesy, or related field. 

•Research interest in radio astronomy, VLBI, GNSS, geodesy, or related field.

•Experience in programming in object oriented languages (C++ or Python).

•Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Matlab or Python is a plus.
