Work Study: Texas Financial Wellness Peer Mentor

About this Job 
Texas Financial Wellness (TFW) is seeking outgoing Work-Study Student Associates to assist with: 
 
  • Speaking with students one-on-one regarding financial literacy topics (training will be provided) 
  • Facilitating staff-led campus financial literacy presentations/workshops 
  • Researching and developing topics for financial literacy workshops 
  • Collecting and analyzing participant data (sign in sheets and peer surveys) 
  • Maintaining financial literacy calendar of events 
  • Managing program equipment and supplies 
  • Other duties as assigned. 
 
The mission of Texas Financial Wellness is to improve the financial health of students in promoting academic success, personal development, and lifelong financial security by conducting comprehensive presentations and workshops, providing tailored one-on-one counseling and conducting campus/community outreach to address students’ distinctive and diverse needs sustaining University core values.

Minimum Qualifications:  
  • Must be registered at the University of Texas for the duration of employment.  
  • Maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.  
  • Must complete Certified Financial Peer Mentor training and test within the first month of hire.  
  • You have a flexible schedule.  
  • Must attend mandatory Financial Literacy Month Events in April. 
Preferred Qualifications:  
  • All majors are welcome to apply. 
  • Desire to enhance financial wellness opportunities alongside knowledge of the UT community.  
  • Interest in financial literacy issues and topics.
