Sports Mini Camp Counselor

Pay Range: $15.00 -$18.00 per hour, DOE

Work Location: 6219 Oakclaire Drive, Austin, Texas 78735

 

How You Will Make an Impact (Essential Functions)

  • Collaborate with the program director to create and implement a vibrant curriculum aligned with the YMCA's goals for Mini Camps.
  • Ensure the well-being and hygiene of children, fostering positive interactions and a safe environment.
  • Maintain a positive attitude, contribute to a clean and welcoming space, and infuse fun into all activities.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings, actively participating as a valued team member.
  • Adhere to YMCA guidelines, ethics, and emergency procedures, prioritizing the safety and enjoyment of the Mini Camp experience.
  • Model and teach YMCA values, promoting a caring and respectful environment for all participants.
  • Support branch goals and embody the YMCA's mission, vision, and values.
  • Act as an Ambassador for the YMCA, sharing our story and culture.
  • Create stimulating activities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving during Mini Camp sessions.
  • Promote positive behaviors and interactions among children, emphasizing appropriate social engagement.
  • Demonstrate respect and nurturing in all interactions, considering the children's social and emotional development.
  • Maintain records and comply with child care requirements, ensuring a smooth and enriching Mini Camp experience.
  • Lead by example the Y's mission, vision, and values with program participants, members, staff, and guests.
  • Become an Ambassador of the Y's work and culture by being the ultimate storyteller of who we are as an organization and brand.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

What You Bring to the Community Enterprise

  • Minimum of 16 years old 
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Experience in leading a group of campers is a plus.
  • You understand the importance of routine with children and commit to consistently fulfilling your
  • You are a team player. You are a team player with a positive, service-oriented attitude, and you can work well with others. 
  • You are organized and productive. You are organized, able to prioritize tasks, and handle multiple assignments.
  • You are a strong communicator. You listen for understanding and meaning. You speak and write effectively.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, talk and occasionally lift and/or move items including equipment, furniture and/or children.
