Events & Volunteer Services Intern

The Dallas Symphony Association is seeking an Events & Volunteer Services Intern for the Summer of 2024. In this role you will support the Events & Volunteer Department with several opportunities to collaborate and interact with various departments like Marketing, Development, Analytics, Artistic Operations, Education, and Facility Operations. 

 

Intern should not only be passionate about events, but also about storytelling and branding. The ideal applicant will major in Event Management, PR & Marketing, Hospitality Management, Non-Profit Management, or a similar degree. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program receiving course credit for the internship. 

 

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

 

  • Attend planning meetings for events and assist in project managing event execution. 
  • Submit, monitor and coordinate design projects related to events in partnership with DSO Marketing 
  • Draft copy and prepare digital email communications via secondary CRM and other digital platforms.
  • Craft a series of posts for social media, collaborate with marketing on design, content, and sourcing visuals to support and promote various events and volunteer groups like Dallas Symphony Young Professionals
  • Prepare, manage and oversee invitations and event RSVP’s for various events, collaborate with Analytics on building patron lists for invitations 
  • Attend various events like pre-concert, intermission, post-concert receptions, patron events, or volunteer fundraising and engagement events (as desired)
  • Support special fundraising events like DSO Gala, DSO YP X, and more.
  • Coordinate musician performances with Artistic Operations and assist with onsite support of musicians at event.
  • Provide creative ideas for additional opportunities of engagement for the Dallas Symphony Young Professionals from an event and social media, and Web site perspectives.

 

Skills:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with copywriting, social media, webpages 
  • Creative with a strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of MailChimp or other CMS a plus
  • Knowledge of Tessitura, WildApricot, or other CRM a plus
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suites and/or Canva a plus

 

The Events & Volunteer Services Intern will work a maximum of 20 hours per week during the summer (dependent upon school credit requirements). This position is in-person (primarily on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays) with potential opportunities for hybrid at-home work.
