Industrial Decarbonization Specialist

Do you want to help advance clean energy goals for California's manufacturing sector? California Energy Commission (CEC) is hiring an Industrial Decarbonization Specialist for the Advanced Manufacturing Unit in the Energy Research & Development Division (ERDD).

ERDD deploys over $300 million annually to advance new scientific approaches and technology innovations to meet the state’s clean energy and climate change policies, including but not limited to the areas of renewable energy supply, building and industrial decarbonization, sustainable transportation, energy storage, energy distribution, resilience and reliability, and carbon management. 

The Industry & Carbon Management Branch funds innovations to meet California's climate and energy goals through advancements in electrification technologies, energy efficiency, load management, and carbon management for California's building, industrial, agricultural, and water sectors.
 

** Telework option available, but hired candidate must reside in California before starting in this unique Industrial Decarbonization Specialist opportunity.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Background in advanced manufacturing processes that can be decarbonized to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and in technologies that can provide benefits to the electric grid.
  • Strong research and analytical skills and ability to make well-supported recommendations for planning and decision-making.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work activities, and deliver high-quality, timely work products.
  • Ability to draft, review, and edit technical information for various audiences, including Commission leadership and the public.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and perform independent tasks that contribute toward shared goals.
