Director of Camp and Outdoor Education
Position Summary:
The Director of Camp & Outdoor Education is responsible for providing leadership to the Camp & Outdoor Education team in the development and implementation of programs under the Camp & Outdoor Education pillar. This position will work with the Deputy Chief of Council Programs to create a yearlong sustainable plan for camp and outdoor education programming. This role will ensure that we provide strong and impactful camp and outdoor programs and experiences for girls of all scout levels. The Director of Camp & Outdoor Education will report to and work alongside the Deputy Chief to ensure that programs are comprehensive, connect with curriculum when applicable, and lead to strong skills and portfolio building.
The Director of Camp & Outdoor Education will work with the full camp team as well as other members of the program team to ensure alignment with larger council goals and streamlined efficiencies. This position is a mix of responsibilities including providing feedback and direction regarding program design on and off camp property, implementation and evaluation, teaching skills, administrative duties, and community outreach.
This role will be required to serve in an on-call/on-duty rotating schedule. When on-call/on-duty, staff must remain on-site.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree with concentration in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience as a camp staff member. At least two (2) years as a full-time camp staff member.
- CPR and First Aid certified.
Position Qualifications
- This position requires registration as a member of Girl Scouts of the S.A.
- Minimum of three (3) years program management and implementation.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Experience and general knowledge and foundation in the areas of maintenance, hospitality, youth services, cleaning, and customer service.
- Experience in the following areas: facility management, facility maintenance, hospitality, youth services, customer service, budget management, camp and outdoor education programming.
- Proven record of managing others through strategic execution and goal achievement.
- Experience working with volunteers, community members, partnership agreements and relationship maintenance.
- Demonstrated project management skills and experience.
- Ability to recruit, support, and evaluate adult
- Demonstrated skills in creative thinking, problem solving, and
- Ability to effectively collaborate with other departments to meet mutual
- Demonstrated skill in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn additional computer

- Willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes evening and weekend This includes an on-call schedule that requires on-site residence during those days.
- Experience working and/or managing a Girl Scout camp preferred.
