24-00768 Assistant Director

The Office of Registration and Operations, Division of Operations has an opening for an Assistant Director position. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team in the Director’s Office.

As an Assistant Director you will be responsible for the daily administration duties within the Division of Operations. Attention to detail, good communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast paced, high production environment are necessary attributes required for this position.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists in the reviewing, planning, and directing of programs and management issues of the E-Commerce Branch, the Income Tax Processing Branch, the Tax Fraud and Evasion Prevention Branch, and the Corporate Insourcing area.
  • Serves as the direct supervisor of the Corporate Insourcing area which includes approving the temporary employee timesheets and performing performance evaluations on the full-time employees.
  • Provides technical assistance to the E-Commerce Branch, The Tax Fraud and Evasion Prevention Branch, and the Income Tax Processing Branch on matters dealing with the administration of all operational regulations, policies, and procedures. Assists with Individual Income Tax year-end changes and system updates, as well as all E-Commerce systems maintenances and updates.
  • Supervises and performs performance evaluations of the Branch Managers for E-Commerce, Tax Fraud and Evasion Prevention, and Income Tax Processing Branches. Assists with onboarding and personnel/disciplinary actions of all temporary employees within these Branches as well as the Corporate Insourcing area.
  • Evaluates Corporate income paper processing inventory reports and other data to facilitate an increase in efficiency and effectiveness. This includes allocating temporary employees to needed areas to ensure processing remains efficient.
  • Acts as liaison between Branches under their supervision and other units of the Department.
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Must successfully complete a background investigation including an FBI criminal history record check (fingerprint check).
  • Must comply with all tax laws
  • Mostly at a desk using a computer and telephone
  • Some travel for training and education.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of administrative or management experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, management, or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year- for-year basis.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting. Minimal travel may be required.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
