Position Description
The Rhetoric Data Science Intern supports strategic and tactical aspects of the OnRamps Rhetoric program. OnRamps Rhetoric consists of two flagship courses, RHE 306 and RHE 309J, with a dynamic team of 400+ education professionals and more than 8,000 students. The Rhetoric Data Science Intern will manage and analyze data, prepare reports, and use measures of success in analytics to help predict coaching moments and growth patterns for instructors, writing assessment specialists, and students. They will contribute to the development, testing, and quality control processes with OnRamps Rhetoric staff and provide sustained contributions to ongoing initiatives. The position also focuses on supporting scaled communications, scheduling, reporting, and learning management system maintenance as well as just-in-time assistance with seasonal and urgent projects. Responsibilities
- Assist OnRamps Course Staff with day-to-day operational aspects of Rhetoric data analytics to support student success.
- Support for Sibme and Zoom analytics (video coaching and conferencing software).
- Provide support in Canvas Learning Management system.
- Communications support.
- Summarize findings, create reports (including charts and graphs), maintain databases of statistical information, and engage in other quality control measures.
- Write and edit processes, guides, checklists, and assets according to best practices.
- Other projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Current undergraduate or graduate student
- 1+ year of experience working in professional environment
- Basic computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Punctual, reliable, responsible, detail-oriented
- Professional conduct and attire
- Recommendation from at least one (1) professional or academic reference"
Preferred Qualifications
- Academic interest in Rhetoric, Education, Data Science and/or Visualization, or related field.
- Interest in and knowledge of local, state, and national dual enrollment and college-readiness initiatives.
- Experience designing and implementing educational research projects.
- Experience with MS Outlook, Canvas or other Learning Management System (LMS), Smartsheet or other project management platform.
- Experience with one or more of the following statistics software languages: R, SAS, SPSS, and/or Python.
- Advanced data management and analysis skills, including the ability to perform basic frequency data analysis.
