Business Systems Analyst

This position, under the general supervision of the Business Systems Manager, is responsible for the analysis, implementation, configuration, maintenance, and enhancement of the POCCA’s application computer systems. Primarily J.D. Edwards EnterpriseOne, Saab PortControl, DocuWare (electronic documents), UKG Ready (timekeeping), Microsoft Office, various business intelligence software (Tableau, Power BI, Reports Now, etc.), and related software. The qualified individual is responsible to plan, develop, and launch efficient business, financial, and operations systems in support of core organizational functions and business processes.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
·      Maintains and updates existing software systems. Primarily J.D. Edwards EnterpriseOne, Saab PortControl, DocuWare, UKG Ready, Microsoft Office, various business intelligence software, such as Tableau, Power BI, Reports Now; and related software
·      Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT system investments
·     Strong understanding of Microsoft SQL and proven experience in building reports with various analytical software
·      Collaborates in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications
·      Provides functional and technical support
·      Gathers and analyzes data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements
·      Responsible for generating and compiling reports based on data findings, complete with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues
·      Assist in the planning, design, development, of new applications and enhancements to existing applications
·      Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues
·      Participate in design sessions for prototyping new systems for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow
·      Ensure compatibility and interoperability of computing systems
·      Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems
·      Create system data flow charts, operation manuals and end-user manuals
·      Conduct research and assist in the deployment of software and hardware products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts
·      Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems, and other support
·      Provide orientation and training to end users
·      Drives vehicle as necessary to complete assigned tasks and works required hours/shifts
·      Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives
·      Performs other duties as assigned
·      CPR certified or ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employment
·      Tier 2 status designation
 
CANDIDATE PROFILE
The preferred candidate for this position should be analytical, mathematical, logical, self-motivated, and efficient individual, expected to possess exceptional written and oral communication skills, listening and interpersonal skills. They must possess the following:
 
EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS
·      Associate’s degree in the field of business administration, computer science, accounting, management, information systems or related field
·      Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent technical certifications will be considered
·      Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment
·      Valid driver’s license
 
EXPERIENCE & JOB KNOWLEDGE
·      Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products
·      Working knowledge of workstation and server computer operating systems
·      Basic knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards
·      Extensive practical knowledge in importing and exporting data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts
·      Proven experience in the operation and analysis of database software, and standards, as well as data retrieval methodologies
·      Proven project management skills in a leadership role
 
TECHNICAL SKILLS
·      Must possess effective business communication utilizing correct English including spelling, grammar, and punctuation
·      Experience in Microsoft SQL; understanding and writing queries
·      Ability to produce reports using various business intelligence software (Tableau, Power BI, Crystal Reports, Cognos, or like software)
·      Experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) Software;
specifically JD Edwards EnterpiseOne a plus
·      Experience in electronic document software; structure, logic rules, interface; Knowledge of document retention requirements a plus, but not required
·      Critical software configuration experience
·      Experience providing functional and technical support
·      Experience designing, configuring, and maintaining complex software systems
·      Strong customer service orientation with a strong attention to detail
·      Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required
·      Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
·      Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
·      Ability to work well within a fast-paced environment, with challenging deadlines, a multitude of projects and changing priorities
 
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS
·      Ability to perform essential job functions, including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, typing and occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
·      Ability to work in a general office environment, and on a work site with exposure to adverse weather conditions, fumes and /or air particulates, working in high precarious places, risk of electrical shock and moving mechanical parts, moderate noise levels and working at heights, ability to wear personnel protective equipment, including hard hat, steel toed footwear, eye and hearing protection when performing work functions
·      Communicating verbally, in writing and over devices such as phones and mobile phones
·      Ability to operate mechanical and electrical equipment and light-weight highway vehicles and standard office equipment and to work the requisite hours to fulfill position objectives, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed
