Adventure Instructor - Camp Moody

As an Adventure Instructor, you'll lead enrichment activities such as challenge courses, team building, arts, outdoor education, field games, archery, and songs/skits for families and campers. You'll greet attendees, set up and takedown activities, and program logistics. Pay Rate: $15.00-$16.20 per hour. Final compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.

What You’ll Do: 
  • Are comfortable working at height and being trained on the rock wall and challenge course elements/You lead families in activities, specifically in arts, group games, and team building. 
  • Facilitate outdoor adventure activities for campers/participants, including but not limited to, archery, fishing, hiking, canoeing, and outdoor education.
  • Supervise families and campers in skills relevant to their camp program, including the safe and proper use of equipment and supplies
  • Provide activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, problem-solving, and how to properly interact with others in ways that are respectful to each family’s uniqueness.
  • Interact with program participants with respect.
  • Support program participants' social and emotional development. 
  • Remain calm and objective when under pressure or when challenged by others.
  • Assist in the program set up and take down. 
  • Promote the YMCA's character values, mission, wellness philosophy, and role in the community.
  • Lead by example the Y’s mission, vision, and values with program participants, members, staff, and guests. 
  • Become an Ambassador of the Y’s work and culture by being the ultimate storyteller of who we are as an organization and brand. 
  • Complete other duties as assigned.  

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience
  • You are a minimum of 18 years of age and you have at least one year of working and/or volunteering with kids ages 5-17.
  • Experience facilitating archery, fishing, rock climbing, challenge course, or other camp activities is preferred.

Availability:
  • You have a flexible schedule during operational hours. You can work weekends and evenings.
  • You are open to working weekdays during the summer.
