Student Assistant - Events & Communications, McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering

The McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering’s undergraduate and graduate programs are both top-10 ranked programs in the nation according to U.S. News & World Report. Responsibilities:


  • Events Support - Help coordinate small scale events/activities, including student engagement activities with alumni and industry partners; maintain and organize department event supplies; provide support for large-scale department events, including but not limited to tracking RSVP data, generating or printing event materials, and assistance with event set-up and tear-down.
  • Communications Support - Create fresh content for social media, announcement screens, and the department's website. Create graphics for use on social media or announcement screens utilizing Canva graphic design software (training can be provided); assist with scheduling and organizing photo shoots as needed.
  • Administrative Support - Proactively collect and update contact details for alumni and industry contacts, assist with organizing digital files and updating/maintaining documentation related to events, communications, and alumni & corporate relations. General office duties may be assigned as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Wiriting and editing skills
  • Social media experience
  • Team-oriented attitude with initiative to get the job done

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Journalism, Communications, Marketing or Public Relations major
  • Some event coordination experience

Compensation:

  • $11.00+ per hour, depending on qualifications
