aUsTinite Event Planning Intern (New Student Services)

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program 
  
The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program empowers students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage and housing assistance. Undergraduate students only are eligible to apply. This internship runs from May 15, 2023 to August 4, 2023. The application is due by February 12, 2023 at 11:59pm. 
  
Although internships range in subject matter and skill set, each position is designed to prepare all students for life after graduation. An additional component to the internship experience will be a ten-week workshop series to develop students’ career readiness. The weekly workshop will require in-person attendance on campus.

The Office 
The Off-Campus Initiative is a part of New Student Services and assists UT Austin students by providing them with resources to find off campus housing, exploring Austin and understanding the resources available to them as off-campus students.
 
The Position 
• Assist in the planning and execution of two aUsTinite events either on or off campus.
• Serve as a student leader/resource during TEXPO sessions for incoming freshmen coming to orientation during the summer (facilitate activities, assist with boarding the buses, monitor the GroupMe, etc.)
• Research and promote events, activities and resources in the Austin community.
• Serve as a resource for students, families and community members in terms of campus involvement, city resources and information about living off campus.
• Assist with campus program collaborations between campus departments and community entities.
• Create assessment tools and synthesize data in a report.
• Work in compliance with all university, departmental, and programmatic policies, procedures and standards.
• Complete and submit all required documentation within requested timeframes.
• Maintain campus confidentiality, except when university policy and/or law mandates a report is made.
• Assist with other duties as assigned within New Student Services and the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs.

Who You Are (Qualifications) 
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience planning and executing events
• Lived off campus during the 2022-2023 academic school year and/or experience exploring various places in Austin
