Experiential Orientation Intern (New Student Services)

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program 
  The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program empowers students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage and housing assistance. Undergraduate students only are eligible to apply. This internship runs from May 15, 2023 to August 4, 2023. The application is due by February 12, 2023 at 11:59pm. 
  
Although internships range in subject matter and skill set, each position is designed to prepare all students for life after graduation. An additional component to the internship experience will be a ten-week workshop series to develop students’ career readiness. The weekly workshop will require in-person attendance on campus.

The Office 
Our mission is to lead students through their transition to the university community. We provide programs and resources that empower students to achieve academic and co-curricular success. We host New Student Orientation to prepare students for life on campus and our new orienting program, Experiential Orientation, helps students make connections and get to know Austin.
 
The Position 
Interns will assist with the completion of summer 2023 Texas Experiential Orientation.
Interns will get to explore Austin alongside incoming students and orientation student employees to foster connections and a sense of belonging in their new home.
They will gain skills in leadership, communication, and programming.

Responsibilities include coordinating one of the weekly programs, compiling session information for campus partners, assisting with logistics of sessions, and collecting and analyzing assessment feedback from program participants.

Position will begin mid-May to train for assisting with the Texas Experiential Orientation sessions. Interns will need to be available in-person beginning May 16th. Possibility for hybrid or virtual work after July 22nd.

Who You Are (Qualifications) 
Interest in student transition, peer mentoring, and coordinating logistics for programming. Experience in event planning and with feedback surveys via Qualtrics.
