Bystander Intervention Programs Student Intern (Longhorn Wellness Center)

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program 
  
The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program empowers students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage and housing assistance.  Undergraduate students only are eligible to apply. The internship runs from May 30, 2023 to August 4, 2023. The application is due by February 12, 2023 at 11:59pm. 
  
Although internships range in subject matter and skill set, each position is designed to prepare all students for life after graduation. An additional component to the internship experience will be a ten-week workshop series to develop students’ career readiness. The weekly workshop will require in-person attendance on campus.

The Office 
The Longhorn Wellness Center is the prevention and health promotion arm of University Health Services (UHS) and the Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC) at UT Austin. The LWC addresses priority health issues on campus using evidence-informed approaches and multi-level prevention strategies including peer education, health education, social marketing, social norms initiatives, environmental change strategies, and strategic campus partnerships.
 
The Position 
  • Meet with BeVocal stakeholders to learn more about the program and bystander intervention
  • Review and update BeVocal workshop materials
  • Assist with bystander intervention related communication, including social media, web content and other materials
  • Assist with planning a fall BeVocal event to increase awareness on campus
  • Use data from the National College Bystander Intervention Survey to create infographics
  • Other projects related to BeVocal as needed and as the intern has ideas for
  • Participate in Healthyhorns summer intern professional development series. Provide feedback on Longhorn Wellness and Healthyhorns related projects

Who You Are (Qualifications) 
  • Interest and/or experience in bystander intervention, health communication, public health, and/or related fields
  • Comfort presenting in front of people
  • Time management and organizational skills
