Digital Marketing Intern (Recreational Sports)

 
The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program 
  
The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program empowers students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage and housing assistance. Undergraduate students only are eligible to apply. The internship runs from May 30, 2023 to August 4, 2023. The application is due by February 12, 2023 at 11:59pm. 
  
Although internships range in subject matter and skill set, each position is designed to prepare all students for life after graduation. An additional component to the internship experience will be a ten-week workshop series to develop students’ career readiness. The weekly workshop will require in-person attendance on campus.

The Office 
Serving the campus community since 1916 - Recreational Sports promotes physical fitness, healthy habits, and balanced behaviors through an array of recreation facilities, programs, services, special events, and student employment opportunities. Programs offered include Intramural Sports, Fitness/Wellness, Outdoor Recreation, Sport Clubs, Instructional, and Informal Recreation.
 
The Position 
1. Assist in developing and executing multi-channel digital marketing plans for specific RecSports campaigns, programs, and events to align with target audiences and sales/participation goals. This includes:
• Copywriting for identified channels
• Identifying assets needed for the creation and/or curation of existing photo/video content
• Channels include, but are not limited to: social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook), blog (Medium), website, and email (Mailchimp)
2. Pitch ideas for educational social and video content marketing
3. Develop a portfolio as the final project deliverable, encompassing the content created for various channels

Additional Duties
1. Support the department’s summer orientation outreach efforts by designing presentations and curating social media content
2. Support the day-to-day management of the department’s social media platforms and website content.

Who You Are (Qualifications) 
Preferred but not required experience includes:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Familiarity with RecSports programs and services
• Experience creating social media content for a brand or an organization
• Experience with creating and editing short-form video content
