Service Programs intern (Center for Community Engagement)

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program empowers students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage and housing assistance. Undergraduate students only are eligible to apply. The internship runs from May 30, 2023 to August 4, 2023. The application is due by February 12, 2023 at 11:59pm.

Although internships range in subject matter and skill set, each position is designed to prepare all students for life after graduation. An additional component to the internship experience will be a ten-week workshop series to develop students’ career readiness. The weekly workshop will require in-person attendance on campus.

The Office
The Center for Community Engagement serves as The University of Texas at Austin’s central resource for those interested in volunteerism and service-learning throughout the UT and Austin communities. Our continued goal is to connect the resources of the university to the community to meet community priorities. We provide resources for anyone interested in getting more involved in the community, and our programs and services are designed for instructors, students, student organizations, campus departments, community partners, and local agencies.

The Position
Service Programs interns will support summer operations for the Community Engagement Collective. The Collective is made up of a network of students who work together to address social issues and promote social justice. Summer is the primary season for recruitment of new members into the Collective, as well as planning time for fall programming. Each week, interns will participate in New Student Orientation sessions, sharing about the Collective's impact and running a "walk-up" service project; they will publish a weekly newsletter with service opportunities and educational links; and they will work on logistics for the Collective's fall retreat, including facility reservations, activity planning, and agenda-setting.

Nothing else is required, but interns have the option to pursue anything connected to CCE work that interests them as long as they have the time, and will also have the option to gain office management experience as a front desk assistant for our office suite in SSB.
