Program Outreach Intern (UTeach Computer Science)

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program 
  
The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program empowers students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage and housing assistance. Undergraduate students only are eligible to apply. The internship runs from May 30, 2023 to August 4, 2023. The application is due by February 12, 2023 at 11:59pm. 
  
Although internships range in subject matter and skill set, each position is designed to prepare all students for life after graduation. An additional component to the internship experience will be a ten-week workshop series to develop students’ career readiness. The weekly workshop will require in-person attendance on campus.

The Office 
The UTeach Computer Science is a program of the UTeach Institute and is committed to improving computer science teaching and learning in secondary schools. As part of our mission, we provide educators with affordable, credible CS curricula that engage students and provide educators with professional development opportunities to build their teaching capacity. 
 
The Position 
Program Outreach Interns will support marketing and communication activities during our teacher recruitment period. Primary responsibilities will include planning and emailing marketing and social media campaigns, such as our monthly newsletters and screening grant applicants. Interns will work with our Senior Recruitment Specialist to brainstorm and execute outreach projects with various audiences.
 Specific Goals to be met: 
• Manage tracking system for AP CS license and PD registration and purchases: Serve as coordinator of AP CS registrations, update spreadsheets for internal tracking lists (Qualtrics, etc.). 
• Generate client leads and update/maintain lists of CS contacts: Prepare mailing lists of UTeach conference guests and networking contacts for staff to upload into our client management system and generate client leads through various marketing and outreach strategies.
• Contribute to the monthly newsletter for UTeach CS stakeholders: Brainstorm content for the newsletter and social media posts, blogs, brochures, and other collateral needed to develop teacher recruitment campaigns.
• Assist staff with the planning and preparation of Summer Professional Development Sessions: Track session attendance, manage follow-ups for PD and webinar attendance, reminders, CS completion certificates, PD completion and survey reminders.
• Coordinate data collection for reporting and program evaluation: Run reports to pull data & analytics, Mailchimp, social media accounts, Google analytics, etc., for internal/external reporting and quarterly reports. 
• Maintain conference calendar for UTeach CS team members: Manage master CS conference calendar and proposal deadlines and work with staff to research upcoming conferences and calls for proposals, sign up for exhibit booth, order electricity etc.
• Develop a final report: Create a final recap presentation and report at the end of the internship to detail progress and personal achievement. The additional responsibilities include collaborating with other team members across the organization and doing general office work that contributes to our team's success.
