Human Resources Intern (University Housing and Dining HR)

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program 
  
The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program empowers students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage and housing assistance. Undergraduate students only are eligible to apply. The internship runs from May 30, 2023 to August 4, 2023. The application is due by February 12, 2023 at 11:59pm. 
  
Although internships range in subject matter and skill set, each position is designed to prepare all students for life after graduation. An additional component to the internship experience will be a ten-week workshop series to develop students’ career readiness. The weekly workshop will require in-person attendance on campus.

The Office 
We are a full-service HR team supporting University Housing and Dining (UHD), a diverse department of over 1500 employees including full-time, part-time and student staff. UHD HR supports managers and employees in Residence Life, Dining, Facilities and Business Services roles.
 
The Position 
This internship is ideal for someone interested in a career in Human Resources and curious about all the different roles that might include. This internship will be on a rotation schedule and will include time to work with several different members of the team and learn more about each role. Each rotation will include short-term projects such as participating in candidate screening and interviewing panels, developing or facilitating a training activity, or drafting communications. Specific projects will align with UHD HR activities during the internship. The Intern will complete the following rotations:
•   Recruiting, interviewing and hiring
•   Onboarding and front office support
•   Workers Compensation, leave and separations
•   Employee development and engagement
•   HR Leadership and employee relations
This internship provides the opportunity to engage with a variety of HR professionals in different roles and at different stages in their careers. Intern will also be introduced to the HRIS system Workday.
