Data Analyst Intern (University Health Services & Counseling and Mental Health Center)

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program 
  
The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program empowers students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage and housing assistance. Undergraduate students only are eligible to apply. The internship runs from May 30, 2023 to August 4, 2023. The application is due by February 12, 2023 at 11:59pm. 
  
Although internships range in subject matter and skill set, each position is designed to prepare all students for life after graduation. An additional component to the internship experience will be a ten-week workshop series to develop students’ career readiness. The weekly workshop will require in-person attendance on campus.

The Office 
On-campus health center providing primary medical, lab, radiological, physical therapy, psychiatric, and psychological care to students
 
The Position 
Duties as fits the student's existing skill set:
-Audit existing Excel processes for opportunities to improve efficiency
-Train supervisor on advanced excel techniques where applicable
-Train staff on data tools such as Excel's Power Query and Tableau
-Write SQL statements for the report writer built in to our electronic medical records system
-Review contracts and update a spreadsheet with spending limits of each contract
-Assist with coding of financial transactions to ensure standardized reporting
-Assist with preparation of monthly financial reports

Who You Are (Qualifications) 
Required: advanced Microsoft Excel skills in some if not all of these areas - pivot tables, power query, external file links, keyboard shortcuts, complex formulas, calculation efficiency
Preferred:
- experience manipulating data sets and report design
- an understanding of data relationships and the importance of data integrity
- knowledge of SQL
- basic accounting principles
- experience with UT's DEFINE or Workday systems
