Marketing Intern (University Housing & Dining)

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program 
  
The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program empowers students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage and housing assistance.  Undergraduate students only are eligible to apply. The internship runs from May 30, 2023 to August 4, 2023. The application is due by February 12, 2023 at 11:59pm. 
  
Although internships range in subject matter and skill set, each position is designed to prepare all students for life after graduation. An additional component to the internship experience will be a ten-week workshop series to develop students’ career readiness. The weekly workshop will require in-person attendance on campus.

The Office 
The Marketing and Communications team supports University Housing and Dining and its five departments. We are a 14-person team, and we offer full-service marketing, including planning campaigns, social media management, visual design (printed and digital), copywriting, videography, website design and content, in-house printing and much more. Our team is responsible for departmental communication, resident messaging, and content for newsletters that maintains consistent voice, style and branding.
 
The Position 
  • The Marketing Intern will help the Marketing and Communications team prepare to welcome students to the Forty Acres. They will provide support and assistance with projects related to Mooov-In and incoming residents, as well as participate in career-readiness activities with UHD professionals. The intern will grow their marketing skills and see tangible results from their work.
  • Provide support for Mooov-In marketing needs including but not limited to website content, assisting with video/photography, social media strategy, creating surveys and ideas for engaging residents
  • Contribute to brainstorms and research with social media team members (offer student perspective, ideas, act in videos, etc.)
  • Assist with communication to incoming residents
  • Participate in promotional activities (social media content development, tabling, new student programming, etc.)
  • Collaborate with UHD professionals on requests related to incoming students
  • Perform market analysis and research on student engagement from similar departments
  • Assist in strategizing and implementing marketing initiatives
  • Shadow Marketing and Communication team members to gain career insight
  • Attend weekly Marketing and Communication team meetings

Who You Are (Qualifications) 
  • Strong writing skills
  • Marketing or other employment experience preferred
  • Communication major (advertising, communication studies, journalism, public relations, etc.) or another related field
  • TikTok or Instagram Reels experience
