Social Media & Marketing Intern (Women in STEM)

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program 
  
The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program empowers students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage and housing assistance. Undergraduate students only are eligible to apply. The internship runs from May 30, 2023 to August 4, 2023. The application is due by February 12, 2023 at 11:59pm. 
  
Although internships range in subject matter and skill set, each position is designed to prepare all students for life after graduation. An additional component to the internship experience will be a ten-week workshop series to develop students’ career readiness. The weekly workshop will require in-person attendance on campus.

Women in STEM (WiSTEM) is closing the STEM gender gap by creating an inspired and diverse community of confident STEM leaders. Sitting within the UT Austin Division of Diversity and Community Engagement (DDCE), WiSTEM leads exemplary and nationally recognized pre-college and undergraduate student STEM programs with a longstanding history that inspire, connect and support students in STEM majors across campus and beyond. 
 
The Position 
- Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns
- Respond to comments and direct messages on social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Flickr, Instagram)
- Create compelling graphics & content to share across social channels
- Help create and edit short-form videos
- Improve WiSTEM YouTube Channel playlists and videos with relevant content
- Assist with creating a consistent brand messaging for WiSTEM
- Attend WiSTEM Summer Camps in June for live action streaming, photography, & videography
- Post-Camp campaigns
- Explore up & coming social media platforms (such as Tik Tok) for future use
- Consult on current WiSTEM website & identify areas for improvement / recommendations then assist with implementation as needed
- Build social media campaigns/branding/templates for future use

Who You Are (Qualifications) 
Preferred Experience & Qualifications:
• Ability to create captivating social media captions
• Knowledge with copyright and citations of work guidelines
• Experience with social media platforms
• Experience with Canva & graphic designing
• Experience with video editing
• Experience using a camera
• Experience with website design
• Proactive & positive self-starter who can work collaboratively and independently
• Responsible, mature and well-organized
• Excellent communication skills
• Interest in branding and marketing skill development

Required Qualifications: 
• undergraduate student
• currently enrolled (Fall/Spring) at UT Austin
• good academic & disciplinary standing
