Events Intern (Living the Longhorn Life)

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program 
The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program empowers students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage and housing assistance. Undergraduate students only are eligible to apply. The internship runs from May 30, 2023 to August 4, 2023. The application is due by February 12, 2023 at 11:59pm. 
  
Although internships range in subject matter and skill set, each position is designed to prepare all students for life after graduation. An additional component to the internship experience will be a ten-week workshop series to develop students’ career readiness. The weekly workshop will require in-person attendance on campus.

The Office 
Living the Longhorn Life programming provides inclusive, innovative and sustainable programming for the UT student body in an effort to build campus morale, bridge peer-to-peer relationships and cultivate individual sense of belonging. All events are free to students, staff and faculty. 
 
The Position 
  • Independently organize 2-3 student-centered events for summer session students to connect with fellow Longhorns 
  • Support on site event responsibilities during New Student Orientation and other summer programs 
  • Provide feedback on past Living the Longhorn Life events as well as brainstorm new programming ideas for the Fall 2023-Spring 2024 school year
  • Brainstorm, design and implement marketing strategies to improve Living the Longhorn Life’s outreach efforts 
  • Analyze attendance data from past events to determine patterns and enhance the unit’s understanding of student event participation 
  • Evaluate the office's current assessment practices by researching, analyzing and comparing other departmental and or institutional assessment models

  • Sorting Data 
  • Counting Data
  • Decorate Office
  • Longhorn Welcome Support (Planning Bevo’s Quest)
  • LinkedIn/UT Learn Professional Development Courses (to help reach 19 hours during slower weeks) 
  • Other duties as assigned
