Instructional Program Intern (Recreational Sports)

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program 
The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program empowers students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage and housing assistance. Undergraduate students only are eligible to apply. The internship runs from May 30, 2023 to August 4, 2023. The application is due by February 12, 2023 at 11:59pm. 
  
Although internships range in subject matter and skill set, each position is designed to prepare all students for life after graduation. An additional component to the internship experience will be a ten-week workshop series to develop students’ career readiness. The weekly workshop will require in-person attendance on campus.

The Office 
Serving the campus community since 1916 - Recreational Sports promotes physical fitness, healthy habits, and balanced behaviors through an array of recreation facilities, programs, services, special events, and student employment opportunities. Programs offered include Intramural Sports, Fitness/Wellness, Outdoor Recreation, Sport Clubs, Instructional, and Informal Recreation.
 
The Position 
  • Help Assistant Director of Instructional Program hire, train, evaluate staff
  • Schedule staff for Safety Education Classes and Swim/Tennis Lessons
  • Schedule, plan, and conduct monthly instructor meetings
  • Submit course work for Safety Education Classes
  • Maintain and review instructor paperwork
  • Other Duties as assigned

Who You Are (Qualifications) 
  • Interest in running a small business
  • Experience working with/leading peers
  • Knowledge of Tennis and/or Swimming
  • Organizational skills
  • Experience working in Box, Google Drive, and/or Wufoo.
