Story-Telling Intern (Center for Community Engagement)

Position Description:  
 
The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program 
  
The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program empowers
students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university
designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours
per week for 10-weeks.
These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package
that includes an hourly wage and housing assistance. Undergraduate
students only are eligible to apply. The internship runs from May 30, 2023 to
August 4, 2023. The application is due by February 12, 2023 at 11:59pm. 
  
Although internships range in subject matter and skill set,
each position is designed to prepare all students for life after graduation. An
additional component to the internship experience will be a ten-week workshop
series to develop students’ career readiness. The weekly
workshop will require in-person attendance on campus.

The Office 
The Center for Community Engagement serves as The University of Texas at Austin's central resource for those interested in volunteerism and service-learning throughout the UT and Austin communities. Our continued goal is to connect the resources of the university to the community to meet community priorities. We provide resources for anyone interested in getting more involved in the community, and our programs and services are designed for instructors, students, student organizations, campus departments, community partners, and local agencies.
 
The Position 
Story-Telling Intern:
  • Implementing a project on the history of East 7th street. Access multiple archives and conduct interviews.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.

Who You Are (Qualifications) 
  • Strong written, verbal, and research skills
  • Knowledge working with and on histories of historically marginalized communities.
  • Comfortable working independently
