Fuels and Fire Crew Leader

GAIN PROFESSIONAL JOB SKILLS, CONTRIBUTE TO CLIMATE RESILIENCE, AND LAUNCH YOUR WILDLAND FIRE CAREER!

At MCC, we focus on the growth of our participants, positively impacting our climate and environment, and transferable job skills.  Crew Leaders and their crews will camp while working on physically demanding and essential natural resource and conservation projects on some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the Northern Rockies and Plains.  Our crew leaders go through a leadership development program crafted over two decades to enhance their confidence, resilience, and technical capabilities.   This crew will work in the Salmon Challis National Forest for the duration of the season. Work will primarily consist of wildland fuels mitigation projects, a high proportion of chainsaw use, fireline construction and other forest health monitoring activities. Learn more about the project work here!

This crew will allow you to get loads of chainsaw time and expose you to connections in the fuels reduction and fire world.  Crews receive basic wildland fire certifications such as Red Card, S130, S190, Nationally recognized saw certifications, and Basic First Aid.   This crew is an opportunity to contribute to forest health, reduce the impact of wildland fire, and create a pathway to a career in wildland fire.   If you are looking for something unique, want to address urgent climate change issues, and want to make a positive impact on the environment, then this is the perfect opportunity for you!
