Associate, Financial Operations (Revenue & Billing)
Location: Vienna, VA (On-site four days per week)
 
Overview:
Madison Energy Investments (“MEI”) believes the future of energy is distributed. To realize this future in the required timetable, institutional capital needs to have access to stable, long-term clean energy assets. Our goal is to provide a platform that unlocks the clean energy asset class to institutional investors. Madison Energy Investments was founded in 2019 and has offices in New York City and Northern Virginia.

MEI offers a start-up atmosphere that is well-capitalized and backed by a leading infrastructure fund. MEI was founded by industry experts with experience deploying over $1B into distributed generation assets totaling more than 300 MW across 20+ state markets and has deployed over $500M of capital. This rapid deployment of capital and fast-paced environment requires a Financial Operations Associate.

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role at MEI maintaining revenue, billing, and collection processes. The individual will be detail-oriented and responsible for the management and accuracy of multiple data sources. This role will work directly with internal team members in both Accounting and Asset Management, Utilities, customers, landowners and more. This role requires a basic understanding of accounting principles, industry regulations knowledge as well as a willingness to maintain repetitive processes. This role will report directly to the Director of Finance and Accounting with oversight and training by the Senior Associate, currently managing these processes, on the Asset Management Team.
 
Summary of activities:
 
  • Maintain current billing/collections processes
  • Maintain current lease payment schedules
  • Manage utility accounts and track/schedule payments
  • Check depositing
  • Assist with company filings in various states and associating corresponding fees
  • Maintain Tax Filing Compliance
  • Assist with invoice processing, payment requests, and vendor inquiries
  • Serve as point of contact for customers and landowners, and assist them with billing and payment questions
  • Assist with project onboarding including state, utility and SREC registrations as well as customer / landowner notices.
  • Ad hoc assistance on various accounting tasks during Month Close
 
Required Experience:
  • Excellent documentation and communications skills required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teammates across functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform with a high degree of flexibility and resourcefulness.
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and strong record keeping skills.
  • Willingness to complete repetitive tasks.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general business and industry practices, processes and familiarity with federal and local energy regulations and performance standards preferred.
  • Finance or accounting experience in the solar and/or renewables industry preferred, not required.

Salary range - $70,000 - $80,000
