DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analytical Solutions Division (ASD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a full time Mechanical Technician to join our team in Huntsville, AL. This person will be responsible for the design/manufacturing support of mechanical prototype devices or products, and for the setup and operation of test equipment and the conduct of tests. This candidate will fabricate/assemble hardware and mechanical prototypes from drawings, work instructions, schematics, rough sketches, and/or verbal instructions. The right candidate will be able to use basic engineering principles, develop/direct the setup of test equipment, the conduct of appropriate tests on new or experimental units and analyze/summarize results. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience.

Position Details:
• Capable of fabrication of complex prototype systems
• Must have familiarity with mechanical systems and safe work practices
• Safely utilize tools and hardware using standard fabrication shop practices
• Ability to read technical manuals - including blueprints and schematics
• Coordinates with engineering staff and project managers on technical modifications required
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and corporate quality standards

Required Qualifications:
• 5+ years’ experience involving fabrication and mechanical operations
• In-depth knowledge of hand and shop tools
• Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum of a SECRET clearance from the US Department of Defense
• US Citizenship
• High School diploma or GED equivalent

Desired Qualifications:
• Active / current SECRET Clearance from the US Department of Defense
