Lab Technician - Paint Lab

DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Analytical Solutions Division (ASD) of Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc., has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Lab Technician - Paint Lab working from our Huntsville, AL facility. This position will be responsible for following a coating formulation, measuring out materials, dispersing ingredients, spraying, and assisting in analysis of coatings on various substances to determine chemical properties, adhesion, hardness, and other ASTM methods. This position requires a well-organized and dedicated individual to follow simple design matrices and complete all activities within required deadlines.

With the assistance of a Chemist, the ideal candidate will perform destructive physical analysis of chemical coatings and assist in dispersing and spraying of coatings for various applications. He/she will perform a variety of tests utilizing specialized equipment such spectrophotometers, gloss meters, particle size analyzers, solids/moisture analyzers, and various other chemical equipment/processes. The candidate will keep a detailed laboratory notebook documenting experiments, failure analysis, and materials analysis. The ideal candidate will also be capable of working with various other functions within the group. Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn new skills are a plus. Requires High School diploma or vo-tech, and one to three years of related experience.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum of a SECRET clearance from the US Department of Defense

• Active / current SECRET Clearance from the US Department of Defense.
