Contract Administrator I/II – Hybrid – Req 4679

This position may be considered for a hybrid work arrangement based on ALLETE’s needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the employees position will be a blend of work performed both in-person and at an offsite location such as an employee's home office.  This position will report to a Duluth, MN office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Negotiate commercial contract terms and provide commercial/contractual advice to others
  • Ensure the administration of the contracting process through preparing and issuing bid documents, contract formation, change order review, resolution of disputes, and contract close out while complying with company policies
  • Analyze and evaluate bids received and make recommendations regarding awards and contracts 
  • Assure standardization of contract terminology, documentation and administrative procedures for complex requisitions
  • Acquire the best economic value for services and products while meeting legal, technical and service requirements 
  • Employ effective communication and interpersonal skills in order to establish and maintain strong working relationships
  • Contribute to negotiations as liaison between internal users and vendors on contract terms and condition and pricing as required

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Contract Administrator I:
  • Associate’s degree with a minimum of two years or more of related experience is required OR 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, economics, supply chain, purchasing, materials management, engineering, or equivalent degree is required 
Contract Administrator II:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, purchasing, materials management, business administration, accounting, economics, engineering or equivalent and four years or more of related experience required OR
  • Associates degree and six years or more of related experience may be considered an educational equivalent

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
•Prior experience with utility procurement or contracting for services are preferred
•This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude
•Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required 
•Prior legal/contracting experience, the ability to work in a team, decisiveness and strong communication skills are strongly preferred 
•Experience working with Oracle, or experience working with other procurement systems, is preferred
•Current possession or willingness to obtain the following credential(s) is preferred: Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) OR Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) certification
