Accounting Specialist - (992)

The minimum base salary for this position is $41,600 and the maximum is $52,000, plus additional annual profit sharing bonus potential. Salary may vary based on education, knowledge and experience.
 
Job Description:
The successful candidate will have experience and expertise in accounting/bookkeeping rules and practices. The Accounting Specialist will work individually and with our Accounting team, support staff, project managers, scientists and biometricians.
 
Responsibilities include:
  • Assisting project managers with contract budget questions and preparing reports
  • Creating client invoices according to contract requirements
  • Assisting staff with employee expense and company credit card correspondence
  • Audit expense items for accuracy and completeness
  • Reconciling credit card statements
  • Perform quality control activities across accounting functions
  • Train employees in job duties, company policies, and Deltek VantagePoint software application
  • Apply strong attention to detail, analytical and communication skills

Requirements:
The Accounting Specialist we are seeking has a great opportunity to help WEST take the next step in our growth as a premier environmental consulting firm. The successful candidate must be a self-starter who possesses:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or equivalent work experience, including High School Diploma or GED)
  • 1-3 years of accounting/business/bookkeeping experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Patience and positivity
  • Experience in working with Deltek Vision or VantagePoint is a plus
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to appear for work on time, sit for long periods of time, follow instructions from managers and accept guidance and constructive criticism
