Policy Fellow, European Energy Policy and Decarbonization

The Jain Family Institute (JFI) is seeking a fellow with a background in energy policy and decarbonization to support a series of international research projects, convenings, and workshops on the strategic decarbonization of the European Union. This fellowship provides proximity to both social change and the people who drive it: renowned scholars, think tank leaders, elected officials, and policymakers at every level.

The ideal candidate has an advanced degree (or is a candidate for such a degree) in environmental policy and has a focus on European policy and politics. Knowledge of the European Union is required for this role. This fellow will be providing research for reports and conferences for a project JFI is working on with several international affairs organizations.

Preference will be given to backgrounds that include experience with climate economics, climate finance, energy markets, and renewable technology.

This is a yearlong position and will involve extensive travel. Conferences and invite-only workshops will be taking place in a variety of European locations in 2023.

We have a priority deadline of November 15th and will consider submissions on a rolling basis thereafter. Selected candidates will be invited to a virtual interview in November.

Responsibilities

  • Post-meeting minutes, summaries, reports, and policy briefs
  • Final summary report, done collaboratively with European partners

  • Advocacy work, arranging and conducting briefings, contacting politicians

Commitment
  • Part-time (approx. 20 hours a week) with a one-year term
  • NYC-based or remote with significant travel
  • You will need to be present and online during your set working hours, and as needed for research meetings and presentations. Our typical hours are 10am-6pm ET.
