Intern, Logistics

POSITION PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to assist the Transportation Department with strategic planning and analysis to meet future goals of the organization.  REG utilizes multiple modes of transportation to facilitate our worldwide supply chain for Renewable Fuels and Other Commodities.  This position will be responsible for completing a project that will be valuable to the department as well as daily tasks and smaller projects throughout the internship pertaining to transportation and the overall REG supply chain.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
Key Accountabilities:
Project

  • Complete department project
  • Recommend improvements based on project results
  • Prepare presentation for senior leadership team
Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with supply chain logistics
  • Attend meetings to develop supply chain and business knowledge
  • Work with team on continuous improvement initiatives
  • Additional responsibilities as necessary
Process Improvements
  • Utilize REG systems to automate tasks
  • While learning REG processes, recommend and implement new process improvements
Analysis Function
  • Assist in cost analysis for transportation department
  • Assist in forecasting methods for terminal sales demand
Other frequent duties:
  • Assist with invoice payments
  • Plan loads in Oracle Transportation Management
Perform other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Basic understanding of business computer systems

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Required:  Pursuing a bachelor’s degree – SCM, MIS, Finance or related degree
**Senior or Junior status required
Experience Preferred: Business environment experience, relevant courses, club participation and internship preferred
Skills Required
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
Advanced math and accounting skills
Special skills or knowledge preferred:
Access skills (building queries, forms)
Advanced Excel skills (Pivot table, Macros, Advanced Excel Functions)
General computer systems knowledge
