Project Associate, Global Health

Research Triangle Institute (RTI) has over 30 years’ experience assisting governments, communities, and the private sector. As a not-for-profit, independent research institute based in North Carolina, USA, RTI has roughly 5,000 employees with global experience implementing international development projects. The Global Health Division (GHD) currently has a staff of over 400 and works in over 25 countries. GHD implements broad-based programs in health systems strengthening, infectious diseases, neglected tropical diseases, and non-communicable diseases.
 
RTI’s Global Health Division is seeking a Project Associate to provide administrative and programmatic support to the division to ensure successful implementation of programming spanning infectious deceases, maternal and child health, reproductive health and family planning, health system strengthening, and malaria eradication among others,
 
This position will report to the Operations Lead. It would be based in Washington, DC or the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina (RTI headquarters). Teleworking will be considered on case-by-case basis.
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 
  • Perform a variety of technical, administrative, and data analysis and processing duties to support successful project management and implementation.
 
  • Support relevant activities with project partners and stakeholders, including participating in weekly calls and monitoring emails.
 
  • Coordinate trainings and workshops, working with partner organizations, developing scopes of work and initiating contracts for facilitators and venues, organizing conference logistics, and serving as the main point of contact for participant travel arrangements.
 
  • Monitor and evaluate training, and tracks and reports results.
 
  • Tracks assigned activity timelines, deliverables, and calendars.
 
  • Review, prepare and submit international travel requests to appropriate project agencies, and manages international travel tracker.
 
  • Assist with initiating contract mechanisms and reviewing invoices for completeness and compliance.
 
  • Format, reviews, and produces program documents for project management review.
 
  • Provides general administrative support to the project.
 
  • As requested, takes the lead in drafting project communications, success stories, or inputs for standard reports.
 
  • Assists with budget forecasting and tracking.
 
  • Performs required research on technical, operational and/or contractual issues.
 
  • Develops tools/mechanisms for monitoring project progress.
 
  • Reviews budget and activity status and prepares status reports.
 
  • Assesses project issues and provides recommendations for solutions that can help the project meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience or master’s degree and 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
 
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Previous experience providing programmatic and administrative support to donor-funded programs, USAID a plus.
  • Interest and/or previous experience in global health programs.
  • Must have strong organizational and analytical skills, and be detail oriented with a focus on accuracy, and very resourceful.
  • Ability to work independently as well as across multiple subgroups within the project team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and/or Spanish.
The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below. Our pay ranges represent national averages and may vary by location as a geographic differential may be applied to some locations within the United States.
