Under minimal supervision, independently and in collaboration with others perform research and conduct a wide variety of standard laboratory procedures for projects; analyze data and interpret results; investigate, troubleshoot, and modify methods and procedures as necessary; may assist in designing experiments; may provide routine equipment maintenance as well as guidance/training to other department personnel; perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • The Research Assistant II will be expected to maintain high-quality organization of all applicable data and scientific materials.
  • Meet regularly with the Principal Investigator to review generated data and discuss upcoming experimental strategy.
  • Candidates should also be able to work interactively in a highly collaborative research environment.
  • Details of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

EXPECTED SALARY:

Commensurate with experience.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of experience; a master’s degree and two or more years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A B.S. in biomedical science is required. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong background in animal husbandry and genetics (mouse and/or Drosophila) and behavioral testing. The successful applicant may also be involved in other activities including small molecule screening and biochemical and physiological assays.
