Jr. Environmental Engineer

SECTOR OVERVIEW
Our Environmental Sector delivers comprehensive environmental solutions to meet the full project lifecycle needs of clients in renewable energy, oil & gas, transportation, and manufacturing industries. With one of the largest multimedia air and land permitting and compliance teams in the country, we support client success in manufacturing and industry, liquids delivery and processing, natural gas storage and delivery, power generation and delivery, and transportation projects.
 
POSITION SUMMARY
TRC is seeking a Junior Environmental Engineer to join our Austin, Texas EHS, Engineering, Construction, and Remediation team. This position would be part of a very skilled team that works closely with Project Managers and other technical leads performing remediation, investigation, monitoring, facility compliance, permitting, process, and other environmental activities. We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, and personable individual with an eye for detail, a willingness to learn, and a desire to be part of a growing and high-performing team.  
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
  • Support environmental assessment, remediation, and compliance projects in the field and office.
  • Perform a variety of field work including environmental assessments, environmental investigations, site inspections, feasibility tests, remedial implementation, and subcontractor oversight.
  • Assist with the evaluation and design of soil and groundwater remediation systems.
  • Perform environmental compliance tasks, including SPCC planning, storm water planning, NPDES/TPDES, SWPPP, RCRA compliance, permit applications and renewals, wastewater permitting, toxic chemical usage/processing reporting, and hazardous waste related projects.
  • Interpret hydrogeological and chemical data.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, feasibility studies, and work plans in support of assessment, investigation, and remediation projects.
  • Support management of large and complex tasks to ensure internal and external expectations are met for scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
  • Assist during proposal development, including preparation of work scopes and budgets.
  • Travel on short- and long-term assignments.
  • Abide by Company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
 
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering (environmental, civil, chemical, or agricultural) from an accredited university.
  • Should have 0-5 years of experience in environmental consulting.
  • For recent college graduates, an internship or cooperative education experience with an environmental consulting firm is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and outstanding oral and written communication skills allowing for positive internal, client, and contractor relationships
