Sr. Dir, Faculty Relations

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Meet with and respond to faculty – both individually and collectively – as needed to understand philanthropic and stewardship priorities and needs.
  • Create, implement, and executive strategies in support of faculty and Laboratories in a customized manner, tailored to the needs and preferences of scientists and their staffs.
  • Meet with and present to Salk leadership regarding scientific and organizational priorities.
  • Participate and lead as a member of the ER leadership team for the advancement of the mission of the Salk Institute, including working closely with peer Senior Directors and Directors.     
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Directly supervises 1 employee within the External Relations department(s): Executive Coordinator, Faculty Relations.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 10 years of experience in philanthropy, stewardship, and/or faculty relations.
  • Doctoral Degree (Ph. D.) or equivalent, and more than ten years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Scientific writing experience.
  • Computer skills required: Development Software; Microsoft Office
