Assistant Manager, Clinical and Translational Research

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as the Assistant Manager of Clinical and Translational Research at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL). The Assistant Manager will support the research programs operating under the CSHL and Northwell Health (NH) affiliation, which aim to bring basic scientific discoveries from the research laboratory to the clinic. This position will manage the inter-institutional transfer of clinical biospecimens and data. In addition, this person will help develop and coordinate the CSHL-NH affiliation educational initiatives and joint recruitments. The Assistant Manager will work under the direction of the Manager of Clinical and Translational Research and with support from the Administrative & Regulatory Coordinator; they will also interact with administrative staff, scientists and clinicians at both institutions.
Other Responsibilities Include:
  • Build and maintain a robust process for transfer of clinical biospecimens and data
  • Audit and reconcile invoices involving clinical biospecimens and data
  • Develop and manage the CSHL-NH affiliation training programs (e.g., translational research fellowship, resident research, etc.)
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate CSHL-NH affiliation educational events and initiatives
  • Communicate opportunities for training, professional development and collaboration
  • Liaise with CSHL and NH administration to coordinate affiliation recruitment
  • Work with HR to facilitate onboarding of affiliation hires and trainees
  • Work with Research Compliance, Cancer Center, Legal and other administrative departments at CSHL and various departments at NH to ensure proper regulatory and legal documentation
  • Compile and analyze data related to research objectives of the affiliation, and create reports on affiliation activities
  • Acquire a broad understanding of the affiliation’s translational research pipeline and team responsibilities
  • Regular travel between affiliate campuses
  • Other job duties as necessary

Position Requirements
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in health or biomedical science. Advanced degree preferred.
Skills and experience: Experience in academic or clinical research preferred. Exceptional communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
