The position
Our summer internship is a 12-week programme designed to provide the experience and skills you need in your studies and future career. Our US internship will begin on 30 May and ends on 18 August 2023. You can find out more about the programme at www.equinor.com/careers/summer-interns
We are looking for a summer intern Data Scientist to join our central Design, Software and Data Science unit within Technology Digital and Innovation. We seek to impact the entire organization with groundbreaking innovations and powerful improvements.
The Data Scientist role is a key part of our digitalization efforts at Equinor. For us, data science means delivering products that create high value. The internship will be an opportunity to:
- Source, wrangle, cleanse and analyze large amounts of data in our cloud-based environment
- Rapidly prototype and iterate to build production ready solutions that scale with minimal cost, building on existing internal services or developing new ones
- Identify and build the right user experience so that the output of your ML workflows is easily interpretable for and actionable by the business users
- Tune your models / architecture efficiently
- Embed your ML workflows as part of existing or new Equinor ML products, refactor your code to meet our deployment standards
- Improve and develop machine learning models using state-of-the-art techniques within deep learning

• Currently studying for Bachelor’s, Master’s degree or Ph.D. with a strong academic record within Data Science, Computer Science or Computational Sciences
• Fluent in English and preferably a second working language
• Have completed at least two years of higher education before the internship programme starts (30 May 2023)
• Candidates must live in a state where Equinor currently has presence
• Candidates must have the necessary work permit for the country in which they are applying for a position. The work permits must be valid at the point of application and for the duration of the employment. • Extracurricular activities and/or voluntary work are an advantage
• Experience working with any of the following machine learning frameworks / libraries: sklearn, tensorflow, keras is preferred
