Post Doctorate RA - SSNMR

Contribute to PNNL’s goals as a biophysical chemist in the Physical Sciences Division. As a post-doctoral researcher, you will join a hardworking, multi-investigator team to explore the secondary, tertiary and quaternary structural characterization of biomineralization biomolecules using solid state NMR and how the structure relates to function. The candidate will purify peptides/proteins/peptoids, prepare surface adsorbed samples and characterize the prepared samples using dipolar recoupling methods and 2D/3D protein structure characterization methods. A variety of other techniques, including solution state NMR, CD, AFM, SEM and TEM may be used to characterize the structure and evaluate the interaction mechanism. This is an exciting research project at the intersection of biological, chemical, and materials chemistry!

Responsibilities

Characterize biomineralization systems using 2D/3D solid state NMR
Synthesize biomolecules such as peptides/peptoids/proteins
Work independently and take initiative on your research project
Interact, communicate, and tackle problems with a diverse team of research staff within the program and across PNNL
Prepare manuscripts
Present research at conferences and project review meetings
Participate in the development of research proposals
