The AAAS Research & Data Analytics (RDA) Department has an exciting opportunity for a part-time Research Analyst to join our team. Under the supervision of the Director of Research & Data Analytics, the Research Analyst will manage, field, and analyze and report on surveys in support of departments across the organization. This position is for 10-15 hours per week through May of 2023. The applicant must be available to come to the office in DC for at least 4 hours at a time two days/week. It’s preferable for the applicant to be able to attend team meetings on Mondays at 2:30pm either in person or remotely.

What You'll Do
Data Collection, Analysis, and Reporting
  • Assist with the day-to-day management, and delivery of regularly occurring membership surveys.
  • Conduct descriptive statistical analyses (e.g., frequencies, means, crosstabs, etc.) 
  • Contribute to the preparation of charts, tables, PowerPoint slides, reports and Power BI Reports and dashboards.
  • Develop lists from AAAS data systems on a scheduled and as-needed basis.
  • Assist other AAAS offices with execution of research needs, including survey research, data analysis, report and/or dashboard development.
Secondary Research
  • Conduct and synthesize secondary research to support research objectives.

Minimum Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university or college program at the undergraduate, graduate, or PhD level. Or BA/BS from an accredited university or college.
  • Coursework must be in a social science, business administration, mathematics, or statistics discipline.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Proficient with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Exposure to statistical software (e.g., R or SPSS) required.
  • Exposure to data visualization software (e.g., Power BI or Google Data Studio), or other data management tools (e.g, SQL or Python) a plus.
  • Ensure that deliverables are produced on time and error free.
  • Ensure data integrity and confidentiality
  • Be punctual, reliable, accurate, flexible, and team player.
  • Interact effectively with the team and other AAAS organizations.
