2023 University Graduate Intern - Legal

Summer internship activities may include the following:
  • Orientation and training events, field trips, social activities, weekly seminars and opportunities to meet and interact with functional leaders.
  • Participating in continuous coaching conversations with your manager, who will provide direction throughout your internship.
  • Provided with an assigned mentor for further guidance and to help you with the technical challenges of your role and give assistance in navigating through the day-to-day questions regarding working in the corporate world.
  • Giving a presentation at the end of the summer to senior business leaders and key stakeholders. This is an opportunity for you to demonstrate what you learned in your internship and provide insight on your experience.
Our Phillips 66 Legal team is committed to client service in advancing the company's commercial, transactional and litigation success. We strive to bring a problem-solving approach to challenges in commercial matters, negotiations, structuring transactions, and resolving disputes. Legal is a trusted partner and advisor in support of the Company’s operating business segments.
Our Legal team is comprised of 5 groups:
  • Global Business (Commercial, Marketing, Midstream, Procurement, Business Development, Intellectual Property, Real Estate and Projects)
  • Corporate (Securities, Finance and Treasury, Benefits, Board of Directors and Corporate Subsidiary)
  • Legal Compliance, Environmental and Regulatory
  • Litigation and Employment
  • Legal Operations
A summer internship with Phillips 66 Legal will further develop your technical and professional skills to become a trusted advisor and valued business partner. Internship projects may vary from year to year, but generally give you exposure to the following:
  • Negotiations, structuring transactions, developing policy and regulations and resolving disputes
  • Advising management on cross-functional matters, such as those relating to corporate governance and strategic transactions
  • Litigation strategy, dockets, case management and engagement with outside counsel to support objectives and resolutions
  • Legal Operations disciplines
Requirements for a Phillips 66 Internship:
Basic/Required:
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Currently enrolled in a Juris Doctor (JD) law program
  • Graduation date of Summer 2023, Winter 2023, or Spring 2024
  • Available for a minimum of ten continuous weeks
Preferred:
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale
  • Previous internship or relevant legal work experience
  • Desire to work in the Energy Industry
