PMO Project Management Intern

Summary of Internship
The Project Management (PM) internship position provides an opportunity for students who are currently pursuing an engineering, business technology or project management degree to get hands on experience working with Operations functions and a variety of project management tools in a dynamic business environment. The PM Intern will contribute to managing defined workstreams on projects, develop tools and templates to standardize work for our Project Management Office (PMO), and update dashboards for leadership reporting. The position starts in June, paid working 40 hours per week through August. Opportunity exists for this position to continue through the academic year on a part-time basis to allow for class schedules.
Essential Functions
  • Support the business in the Program Management Office
  • Knowledge requirement managing project activities, documenting status and developing reports and dashboards.
  • Engage and partner with PMO members and project teams to drive open activities to completion
  • Create project plans, update status reports and communicate findings and next steps
  • Accept candid feedback and look for areas of improvements
  • Specific tasks will be tailored to the PM Intern’s experience level and abilities
  • A PM Intern works under the close supervision of other project and program managers
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a cross-functional team
  • Willingness to learn, be mentored, and improve
  • Desire to contribute and improve design of new and existing reports and dashboards
  • Exceptional customer focus
  • Desire to teach other team members and colleagues about technology in area of expertise
  • Familiarity with various Microsoft Office 365 and project management tools
  • Proficient and adept at PowerPoint
  • Aptitude quickly learning new technology and software with ability to apply its use
  • Solid communication skills, with ability and confidence to present to an audience of varied leadership levels
Qualifications
  • Student currently enrolled in classes leading to an accredited degree in engineering, operations, supply chain or project management related disciplines
  • General science and engineering knowledge preferred
