Chemical Engineer, Li-ion Batteries (Contract-to-hire)

Contract period: 6-month contract with potential for full-time

Job Description:

Position Summary:

Are you excited about the upcoming energy transition to renewables? Do you want to apply what you learned in school to develop new battery technologies that are safer, cheaper, and cleaner? Hunt Energy battery team is seeking a highly motivated Chemical Engineer with hands-on chemistry lab experience. This candidate will be responsible for performing hands-on experiments, build equipment, maintain/manage equipment/instruments, data processing/analyses, and reports. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to turn into full-time Hunt employee after the contract period. Contract period: 3-to-6-month contract with potential for full-time

Responsibility/Duties:

·        Perform laboratory experiments, document results data analysis, and create reports associated with Li-ion battery technology
·        Materials process through solid state reaction, hydrothermal, sol-gel process, and other methods
·        Generate innovative ideas and concepts to resolve incumbent challenges
·        Build equipment for the process scale-up
·        Battery electrode fabrication, testing and relevant techniques
·        Work with diverse chemical reactions involving various acids and temperatures
·        Operation, and maintenance of chemicals, supplies, equipment, and diverse chemical and physical instruments
·        Operation and monitoring of diverse electrochemical battery tests
·        Evaluate products, write reports, and perform lab maintenance, perform basic repairs, do safety check-ups, and dispose of laboratory waste

Required Skills:
·        Hands-on and creative approach to engineering problem solving
·        Materials & chemical synthesis
·        Battery fabrication, testing and analysis
·        Microprocessor programming, design
·        LabView programming and building
·        Mechanical and electrical system building
·        Capability of analyzing/organizing and presenting those results
·        Strong interest in early-stage research and development
·        Enjoy the fast paced, results driven environment of a startup
·        Designing experiments in an industrial research setting

Required Experience:
·        A bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Materials, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering, or related fields
·        Entry level – experience working with chemicals in a lab is a plus
