Year Long National Park Service Internship: Blue Ridge Parkway
Site Information Blue Ridge Parkway is a 469-mile scenic byway crossing through 29 counties in two states. The park features a designed landscape traveling through many opportunities to experience the natural and cultural heritage of Southern Appalachia. The park regularly hosts/hires over 1100 volunteers contributing over 40,000 hours. Position Summary The CVA working at Blue Ridge Parkway in 2023 will come into an exciting time in the park's volunteer program. They will support development of new programs, parkwide volunteer work days, and cultivation of local crews and partner volunteer organizations. Position Responsibilities: • Support administrative needs of park volunteer program through direct contact with volunteers, volunteer leads, and volunteer supervisors • Support communications with all of the above through regular newsletters, webinars, trainings, and meetings • Serve as a liaison between park field staff and the rest of the park's external affairs team, keeping everyone up to date and aware • As a member of the park's external affairs team, the CVA will also support internal and external communications.
